Known as "the Professor", Doug has had a varied musical career. picked up guitar at 11 and joined his first band "the merits" in 1966, "bitter almond" in 1970, "bigbucks" 1972, and "numbers" 1977.known mostly as lead guitarist, was actually songwriter first, lead guitarist second. bell wrote and recorded many commercials, and most of the original music for the bands he joined. there were side trips as a singer songwriter/folksinger, and blues guitarist as well as a career in musical instrument retail and president of boston's blues society. today, his songs have been on 22 cds, 18 television shows, films, karaoke, broadway plays and covered by other artists. |
